Wesley Chapel, FL—The Tampa Bay Storm of the National Gridiron League (NGL) is officially inviting aspiring professional football players to attend a tryout on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Wesley Chapel Recreation Complex, located at 7727 Boyette Road, Wesley Chapel, FL 33545. Registration will begin promptly at 2:30 PM, with on-field evaluations set to start shortly after.

This is a critical opportunity for athletes looking to earn a spot on the Storm’s 2025 active roster. Led by Storm Head Football Coach James Purnell, the tryout will be structured and competitive, giving players a real chance to showcase their skill set in front of team staff and league representatives. As the Storm returns to competition following an extended hiatus, this tryout will serve as a cornerstone of the team’s rebuilding process and player acquisition strategy.

Coach Purnell brings a wealth of experience to the Tampa Bay Storm, with a strong reputation for talent evaluation and player development. His leadership will be instrumental in selecting the most prepared and impactful athletes to represent the Storm during their inaugural season in the NGL. The coaching staff will evaluate participants on key physical and mental attributes, including speed, agility, football IQ, positional technique, and overall athleticism.

Players are encouraged to arrive early and be fully prepared for a professional football workout. Athletes should bring cleats (no metal spikes), proper workout attire, water, and any other necessary gear.

This tryout is open to all positions and experience levels, including recent college graduates, former collegiate athletes, and those with previous indoor, arena, or outdoor semi-professional experience.

The Tampa Bay Storm is committed to discovering and developing talent from across the region and providing a platform for athletes to continue their football careers at the professional level.

The Storm will host five home league games and seven home matchups during the 2025 season at their new temporary venue, Storm Stadium, located at the Ellis-Methvin Sports Complex in Plant City, Florida. The roster spots available through this tryout will be among the most sought-after opportunities to play in front of a passionate fan base and contribute to the team’s return to the gridiron.
